Rep Teams

Rep Team Program

Our team program brings together players of similar ages and skill levels to create an environment of intense learning and development. By housing both skill development sessions and competitive teams under one roof, we give athletes the unique opportunity to immediately apply what they've learned in training to real game situations.

Learning a new skill—and figuring out how to use it effectively in a game—is a process that takes time and requires players to learn from their mistakes. Our coaches don't just understand this; they embrace it as an essential part of growth. At Eurostep, winning is never the end goal—it's a byproduct of hard work, player development, and consistent preparation.

Rep Team Tiers

In order to cater to the different development needs of the athletes in our club, we will be offering three tiers of teams (Vanguard, Cadet, and Development). To read more about the different tiers and what they offer, CLICK HERE.

Mission & Expectations

Our mission is to help every athlete reach their maximum potential. To achieve that, we hold every member of our club—coaching staff, players, managers, and support personnel—to the highest standards of conduct. Each player is required to review and sign a copy of our Code of Conduct before officially joining Eurostep.

Playing Time Philosophy

While our teams compete to win, that's not the only thing that matters to us. We believe every athlete deserves the opportunity to showcase their skills and demonstrate what they've learned. That's why it's club policy that every player receives a minimum of 8 minutes per game—except in certain circumstances at the coach's discretion.

Beyond that baseline, however, every player must earn their additional court time through performance in both practices and games. Minutes are not guaranteed beyond the minimum, and it's up to the coach to determine each player's role based on merit, effort, and team needs.

OBJECTIVES

There are four main objectives for the program, and none of them include the word winning. At Eurostep, we believe that winning is a byproduct of practice and preparation—and will naturally follow when the objectives below are met.

1. Support and Growth
Create a positive, encouraging atmosphere for parents, coaches, and athletes alike. There is zero tolerance for disruptive or negative behavior from anyone affiliated with the program.

2. Continual Improvement
Foster an environment of intense growth and development. Every player should walk out of each training session better than they were when they walked in.

3. Build Fundamentally Sound Players
Complete basketball players can shoot, pass, dribble, and play defense—regardless of their position or where they are on the floor. By developing well-rounded skill sets, every player in the program will have the opportunity to succeed and shine.

4. Post-Secondary Basketball
The ultimate goal is to develop players who are prepared to earn scholarships at Canadian or American universities and colleges.

Team Philosophy

A unified and consistent team philosophy will be applied across all age groups within the program. This basketball ideology is created and established by Eurostep's founder and owner, Boris Bakovic, and every coach is extensively trained to deliver it with fidelity. As a result, the club as a whole will maintain a distinct style of play—meaning that if a coaching change occurs between seasons, athletes will experience seamless continuity with no disruption to their development.

1. Tactical Principles by Age Group - While the core philosophy remains constant, its application evolves with age and experience:

2. High-tempo basketball with an emphasis on transition offense.

3. Pass-and-cut offense that prioritizes back-door cuts and ball movement; over-dribbling and isolation basketball are not permitted.

4. Man-to-man defense as the primary system—100% man-to-man at the younger age groups.

As players mature, more tactically elaborate plays and defensive schemes are gradually introduced—but only once athletes have demonstrated a firm grasp of the basic concepts. The screen-and-roll, for example, is not introduced until the U13 level.

Approved Practice Curriculum - Beyond tactical alignment, Eurostep takes development a step further. The organization maintains an approved database of team drills, carefully constructed by the President of Operations. This ensures that every minute spent at practice is purposeful, constructive, and designed to help our athletes improve.

Coaching Staff & Organizational Structure

Eurostep is operated as a professional basketball club, and we hold both our players and coaching staff to high expectations. To ensure this level of commitment and dedication, every coach is compensated by the organization. This allows us to hold our coaches fully accountable for upholding the objectives and developmental philosophy established by the club.

Coaching Responsibilities

Each Eurostep coach is expected to:

1. Create weekly practice plans that are submitted to and approved by the President of Operations prior to execution.

2. Use only pre-approved drills from the organization's official database in all practices.

3. Contribute to the database by submitting their own drills for consideration and approval by the President of Operations.

4. Provide video feedback to players after games and tournaments.

5. Foster a welcoming atmosphere where athletes feel valued and excited to be part of the program.

6. Attend ongoing development workshops offered by the organization to continue growing as coaches.
